Why we like it

Full disclosure: L’OCA Quality Market offers Canada’s most comprehensive selection of chef-inspired, chef-prepared foods, meals, and sauces—including our scratch-made Teriyaki Sauce.

At the time we’re writing this, we’re not quite ready to declassify the formula for this sauce.

And even though it perfectly complements dishes like beef and broccoli, crispy tofu or salmon, and will always be available on our shelves, have fun customizing your next stir fry with hoisin, ginger, sesame, or Szechuan sauce.

Preparation Notes

Stir-frying happens quickly!

Before you even turn on the stove, make sure to properly set up your mise en place.

That involves gathering, measuring, preparing, and having all your ingredients ready to go.

For the beef, we recommend placing it in the freezer for 30-45 minutes until it is partially firm. After that, use a sharp knife to slice it into thin strips against the grain of the steak.

Making the recipe

  1. Step 1

    Mushrooms and Onions

    • Over medium-high heat, heat oil in a large pan until it shimmers.
    • Add sliced mushrooms and onions; sauté for about 4 minutes until tender but still crisp, stirring occasionally.
    Next step
  2. Step 2

    Celery and Beef

    • Toss in the celery, then add the beef in a single layer, season with salt.
    • Cook until the steak has browned, approximately 2-3 minutes.
    Next step
  3. Step 3

    Broccoli and Garlic

    • Add the broccoli and garlic; fry until softened, stirring occasionally.
    Next step
  4. Step 4

    Sauce and Pepper

    • Pour in the teriyaki sauce, add black pepper to taste, and stir until everything is well coated and heated through.
    Next step
  5. Step 5

    Garnish & Serve

    • Remove from heat, serve over rice, garnish with sesame seeds, and enjoy!
